4 Dash 8-40b units arrived Willard last night CSX 5976-5964-5952-5965 and left Willard Ohio this evening on Q 330 for LTEX according to paperwork Either CSX is getting rid of them or going to get some work done Stay tuned for the other 2 units Tom Boylan Date: 08/02/16 21:53 Re: CSX Dash 8-40b 5976-5964-5965-5952 Arrive Willard Ohio Author: train544 Hi Guys
Here is the other 2 Dash 8-40b units CSX 5952-5965 that arrived Willard Ohio in the 4 pack last night Tom Boylan Date: 08/03/16 05:50 Re: CSX Dash 8-40b 5976-5964-5965-5952 Arrive Willard Ohio Author: amanwtf If these locomotives are destined for LTEX, they're not going there to get worked on. CSX is in the process of getting rid of the 4 axle B-20 and B40 locomotives.

The other Class Is that had B39-8E and B40-8 locos have already purged theirs, either to shortlines or scrappers. These high-horsepower four-axles were designed for intermodal service and that job is now entrusted to modern six-axled power. There are PLENTY of GP38-2's and MP15's available right now for shortline/industrials. These are going down the same path as the many, many, MANY four axle CSX GE's that proceeded them, I'd say. If these didn't go to TTI, they're doomed.

Huntsville Madision County Railroad has rencently Bought some of the Old B36-7 and the B39-8 And plans to buy a few more units. Yeah, I'm wondering why buy a GE... not many shortlines need the extra HP... unless the shortline already has parts and trained people for GE, or is looking for a unit to part out. On the other hand, some of those ex-Southern EMDs look pretty rough. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/03/16 14:15 by ctillnc. |
