The 250 ton former CSX wreck derrick which has been privately owned for many years in a Spruce Pine, NC lumber yard has been donated to the North Carolina Transportation Museum. It will soon make a slow order move down the former Clinchfield "Loops" and interchange with NS at Marion, NC and continue on to Spencer.

This is awesome. Seen this thing every time I've been to spruce pine in the past decade or so and now I can't wait to see it up close and in person at NCTM.

By any chance, does any know if this crane is a Bucyrus Erie Crane or a Industrial Brown Hoist?

It's a dieselized (i.e. originally steam powered) Industrial Brownhoist.
