Solid blue at E. Deerfield.

Making a trip to the Pan Am yard at East Deerfield is often an exercise in futility for me but occasionally I get lucky.  Yesterday nothing was moving when I arrived, so I took a walk down the bike path to take a look at the Connecticut River.  When I got back to my truck, this set of power was coming off a train and heading into the yard tracks.  Fortunately, moving power off the main and into the yard requires a few passes under the "railfan" bridge so I had ample oportunity to see, hear, smell and photograph the set.

At this point in their lives 609, 619, 603 and 617 are all essentially SD40-2's, but even rebuilt and wearing a basic dip job they're still second generation EMD's and I'll take that over GEVO's any day.

Awesome! Love the middle two; look like original SD45 bodies.
