NS Altavista District

Any update on when the Altavista District will be cleared for double stacks, and what train reroutings  that will entail?  I understand this work is related to extending Amtrak to Roanoke on the Blue Ridge District.

Altavista District is the former Virginian Railway east of Roanoke.  Buena Vista is on the Roanoke District, north of Roanoke on the former N&W Shenandoah Valley line.

Don't know about the completion of the tunnel enlargement.

You're right - I forgot where Buena Vista is.

Thanks. I was visitingWashington and Lee in  Lexington back in February 2015 and made a trip over to Bueana Vista. Tracks looked heavy and in nice shape but nothing came thru. 

Which lof the two virtually parallel lines (although separated by miles) are busier, the former Southern or N&W?
