Crushed Limestone from quarries NW of Hialeah Yard for aggregate distribution sites along the FEC stretching all the way to Jacksonville.

When I worked for the FEC back in the mid 80's we had a unit train that ran 2 gp40-2. I think the rock came from either Lone Star or Rinker plants just west of Medly. I used to love the unit train job. we would be driven out to the quarry about half way thru loading. Then we would take the train thru the Hialeah yard aound the Y and straight out north to Fort Pierce where another  crew would take the rock further north to unload and then we would pick up the empty unit train and go back thru the Hialeah yard and the Y and head out to the rock quarry for the refill of the next loads of rock.
