This years's NS Toys for Tots Train

This year's version of the Marine Corps Toys for Tots train heads north away fro its station stop in Oneonta NY this past Saturday December 3.  Next stop Cobleskill, about 35 miles ahead.

Nice consist.   Hope they fill the baggage cars full of toys.   Any pics of the rest of the train?

Nice to see a passenger train on a line that hasn't seen regular passenger service since 1963.

Amtrak manages to show up on this line more frequently than you might imagine.

All of the Viewliner deliveries come this way, as did at least a few of the Acela deliveries a few years back.  Amtrak normally sends at least some equipment down to Steamtown for a special event once a year.  One year, the consist included some privately owned cars and tickets were available to the public.  So my boys and I got a chance to ride Scranton to Albany in a full length dome, a most pleasant way to spend a day.
