Eastern Railroad Discussion > Get Up ! Go To Work ! [NS (NKP) signal update]Date: 12/07/16 07:31 Get Up ! Go To Work ! [NS (NKP) signal update] Author: NKP715 Saw this signal setting on the ground at the Haggerty St crossing
in Girard, PA, on the NS. Would guess it will be the replacement for the westbound home signal at CP Wallace, some half mile to the east. Within past six weeks or so, new signals installed at CP's Conneaut, Woodworth, "PA," and Girard. None are in service yet. Second photo was taken, looking east, at CP Wallace, on April 6, 2012, with OK from and in the presence of a MofW supervisor. The NKP bracket and the dwarf were just days away from being retired. Tracks from left to right are the Girard Siding, Main, and CN (Bessemer) connection. To the best of my knowledge, there was never a signal on the right side of the bracket; was told once that there was a plan many years back to incorporate the B&LE connection into the CTC system. The connection remains as a hand throw, electric lock about 1000' from the CP. It is still used today - NS sets off and picks up cars for Emsco in Girard, which the CN then delivers to the customer. The last B&LE movement to Erie via trackage rights occurred on March 23, 1995. Date: 12/07/16 10:17 Re: Get Up ! Go To Work ! [NS (NKP) signal update] Author: Gonut1 The bracket signal holds a "dolly" showing the track to the right is unsignaled and that the signal applies to the center (main) track.

[NS (NKP) signal update] Author: Limited-Clear I did. Railroad police would still consider that trespassing and the railroad would terminate the MofW Supervisor's employment if they saw this image especially if you got hurt on railroad property.

The railroad, for example, hired back a supervisor busted for DUI. Employee photos taken while on duty have been used in the company calender. In that context, how serious is a picture taken safely with permission? Let the RR worry about their own business. Be glad he shared his pics with us. I am. Maybe next time, use better judgement and send him a pm instead of calling him out on the board.

[NS (NKP) signal update] Author: Limited-Clear I feel it is more important for others to read this so they don't jeapordize someone's employment and their own safety. If you feel this strongly to debate the law and your pro trespassing views, you may want to call the Norfolk Southern Police and ask their opinion in this matter. They can be reached at 1-800-453-2530.

If they want to scan the posts looking for rule violations, they can do it. I don't feel a railfan here should take it upon themselves to police the boards for violations. No different than the grammar police. How many photos on the Nostalgia board were taken while trespassing in engine facilities, etc? Btw, I know that phone # well, I call it plenty.
