"CSX Q217, West on 1, Clear NA"

"Amtrak P029, West on 2, Clear NA."  OK.....So a night, hand held, cell phone video is problematic at best.....and requires some "fill in the blanks" imagination.  But here goes........It is not unusual for the CSX dispatcher to send two trains west up Sand Patch grade in PA at the same time between Hyndman and Manila.  Good timing has the faster train (Amtrak or a freight) overtaking and passing the slower freight in the vicinity of the horseshoe curve at Mance.

And so it was recently on a cold evening around 8:20 pm.  A long and underpowered Q217 had been struggling upgrade since Hyndman while the fleet Amtrak P029 had been overtaking the autorack at speed.  The video is a pan taken from the deck of the Mance Training Camp.  Note the headlight of Amtrak shining on the autoracks and Amtrak's horn warning for the Mance road crossing.

And yes, the ridge-top windmills command a presence day or night.  You can see the blinking warning light in the video.  The illumination of Amtrak came from two 100 watt spot lights above my head.
