Eastern Railroad Discussion > Military special on the former Reading

Yesterday CSX handed off a special Military load to NS in Hagerstown, MD which then proceeded north to Harrisburg, PA and then east to Croxton, NJ. I was out in Harrisburg at the time when he came up catching the Norfolk and Western Heritage unit so I really couldn't get him and the N&W at the same time. Once I was done in Harrisburg I jumped on 81 East and headed for Allentown in hopes of heading this movement off. As luck would have it he got stopped for a while at West Laurel on the former Reading for opposing traffic. 

Location of pictures is Alburtis, PA
Symbol for the move was O98 (O nintyeight)
Load was supposedly parts for Nuclear weapons.

Kinda doubt that was what the load was.  If they were moving warheads, or parts for them, they wouldn't even tell the crew what it was.

Having worked moves of military equipment, and without getting into any specific protocols (don't ask for any, because I won't discuss them), the crew is not given detailed information about the shipment.

That load lokos awfully big for weapons...my guess is part of a submarine reactor.

I would say that is a far more likely explanation.

He/She could tell you but then they would have to kill you...
