A Few Minutes At The Dog House & in Fairburn, Georgia
Author: NS7214

shot 1- Thursday January 19, 2017 is just another day along the northern side of the Manchester Sub in Union City, Georgia. Now that the GEs are gone, GP40-2 slug sets are the norm. Local job A713 with the GP30 Road Mate 2264 goes about it's duties as A716 stands to the side.

shot 2- A716 gets ready to line up the pickup for A727 with GP40-2 6917 before calling it a day.

shot 3- Swinging by Fairburn, Georgia finds GP39-2 4306 in the wide open, normally power is pinned between trees and cars in the siding. Still supported on inventories, the small group of 20 former Reading GP39-2s are still active although rather rare. Since the B40/20-8s have been retired they've often taken the place in local assignments that the GEs held down. The GP39-2s are now mixed freely with GP40-2s and or slug sets. 4306 is seen at Fairburn, Georgia on the evening of January 19, 2017

Those are nice, really like the overpass shot of overall facilities.

2264 was built for UP if memory serves me right, I'd have to run the numbers again.

CSX Road Mate Nº2264 Union City, Georgia January 19, 2017, online info shows 2264 being former GM&O 510, P&L 510, but I'm  still leaning towards ex UP. I'm not having any luck on the unofficial emd page.   A frame would be needed.

Does 2264 have poling pockets?  All GM&O GP30s had them.
