Snow Job!

A Delaware Lackawanna snow job to be sure, catching it at Elmhurst, PA chasing to Pocono Summit. Its not often you see this plow out, and about, one may wonder why so much power, when arriving at Portland this will become train PT 97 westbound to Scranton there is a long climb to Pocono Summit plus a heavy train which will leave the next day.

I just love the sound of those ALCO's. Bet those car drivers had a few choice comments for the locomotive Engineers. That sure is an old plow but it sure does the job.

Everything in the eastern part of the U.S. is old and rusted, it's not just the railroad!

Last Time I personally saw that plow in action was on the head end of 261 back in 1996 winter trips... But the lack of heavy snow was there as well unfortunately.

In my town the DPW folks are taught to not plow the road in a way that creates piles across a rail line - they have a second pickup truck that follows behind with plow that opens the rail line...I have to believe DL contacts the towns involved and informs them of the new snow block.... :) Costs little to do it.

Good stuff, Ed.  The LV 414 is for sure Alco powered.  I guess the rest are too, eh?
