Eastern Railroad Discussion > New CSX SD70AC Damage PicsDate: 01/11/04 00:06 New CSX SD70AC Damage Pics Author: sharris I can only imagine what the conductor of train Q174 thought Saturday when he saw an autorack derailed in his direct line of vision as his train passed the Q261 at Savage, Maryland. Fortunately the crew is OK despite the already-reported sideswipe incident, and the damage shots are a true testiment to the safety of the wide cab:

Do you have any pics of the whole locomotive? If so please post. Steven Nicely MP274.10 Date: 01/11/04 07:26 Re: New CSX SD70AC Damage Pics Author: ddavies From 2 days before when they went south on Q173.
http://members.cox.net/dbdavies/news/news.htm The original posters were actually chasing Q174 to shoot the new units. Not sure if they got any before the derailment or not. I know MS got pics at the Anacostia River bridge, but his are film images. Date: 01/11/04 07:48 Re: New CSX SD70AC Damage Pics Author: sharris We did end up shooting them a couple times at Anacostia and Halethorpe after missing them coming up Franconia Hill in northern Virginia.
Also, if you think I got into a CSX wreck unit scene to take pics you've lost your mind. The digital was handed off for that one, as there was zero chance they were letting non-CSX personel in just to 'take a look'! Much like our shots of the Sand Patch derailment scene, there are some places that I just can't personally go... SH Date: 01/11/04 10:44 Re: New CSX SD70AC Damage Pics Author: EL-SD45-3632 I don't think the minor damage to 4718 can be a "true testiment" of the safety of the cab design. I have seen far worse damage on a "standard" cab design and no crew injures. Heck it was just a scrape.
