That is a monster announcement. After BLI's precedent setting CZ passenger cars produced over the last year, I am totally stoked over this announcement! We Espee fans young and old are gonna dig deep for these cars.
Guess they beat another company to the punch. That other company will be left over with doing this passenger trainset in N scale I guess... I'll be curious to see how well they look, but based on the quality and accuracy of the Califormia Zephyr cars, these should be very, very nice. Based on that alone, I think they've earned the benefit of a doubt. Elizabeth Date: 05/09/06 16:08 Re: Daylight train from BLI/PCM Author: Charles Questions.....
1. What scale? (PCM does both N and HO) 2. Where did you get you information from? There is nothing on either the BLI or PCM websites? 3. It appears that the cars have different stock numbers. Are they doing different era trains? If so, which ones? Charles Date: 05/09/06 16:35 Re: Daylight train from BLI/PCM Author: Andre AAhhhhh Sh@#$$, this way to the poor house. It has never been this good before in this hobby before and one more thing that comes out that I just have to have and I may go crazy. Let see now I need to order a set of the PA's and I already have the E's thank God.
Andre Date: 05/09/06 16:41 Re: Daylight train from BLI/PCM Author: WAF If you think my comment is negative, go over to the Yahoo SP Railroad List and read what they will say when the cars come out or if pictures are shown what the cars are supposed to look at. If one thing is out of place or the paint isn't the correct shade or red or orange, they will holler " it isn't prototype of SP" and then slam the product because it wasn't. Now, that's negative.. I'm sure BLI will do the best job they can, but....
Date: 05/09/06 18:54 Re: Daylight train from BLI/PCM Author: stivmac Couldn't they knock a few bucks off and price it at $444.90? $130 to $80 a pop for the cars? I shoulda bought brass 20 years ago! of course, I couldn't afford brass then either. Still, save those nickles, save those dimes, giddiup, giddiup 4449!
Date: 05/09/06 19:33 Re: Daylight train from BLI/PCM Author: WAF Let's see. When Soho came out with the SP cars in the late 70s, they were about $150 ea or so. Yes, inflation!

Bachmann's old tooling is not that bad on the GS4 even rivaling early brass models of the same engine. We shall see.
Date: 05/09/06 22:01 Re: Daylight train from BLI/PCM Author: dmaffei The best Daylight train ever built in my opinion was the Challenger Imports (RIP) two versions they did about two years before they closed there doors. They did the skirted and deskirted (1950s) version. The cars were $300. dollars each. If I were BLI, I would strive to match these cars and I personally think they will. They proved they can do a great job on the Zephyr cars. Even with small problems as windows not being flush and such, they are great models for a decent price in comparison. I may be wrong, but hope I'm not.

Hi Dave, Well, this time, there's no fussy dome car (with sunken window glass) to worry about, unlike the BLI CZ, so these daylight cars should be pretty good, I hope. Cheers, Harry Date: 05/10/06 00:17 Re: Daylight train from BLI/PCM Author: n6nvr "Your" prices, what are the "retail" prices estimated to be?
Am I correct in assuming these are brass cars? My family is full of SP fans, but those prices pretty much guarantee that again I'm not going to get any articulated cars. Date: 05/10/06 00:41 Re: Daylight train from BLI/PCM Author: tracktime n6nvr Wrote:

Also, note that the $129 cars are actually two-unit articulated cars, so the pricing scales out appropriately. Same goes for the three-unit coffee shop cars. Undoubtedly, these'll be plastic, of some sort. Cheers, Harry |
