What to do with yellowed decals?
Author: mgwsy1978

I have some older Champ decals that have yellowed a little and curious if there is a way to resurrect them? I have been told to tape them to a window and let the sun bleach them but that sounds odd and not sure if it would really work. Any suggestions or are these junk?

Thanks

That wont make them brittle?

What stops the sun from bleaching away the yellowing but not the lettering?

It hasn't made the decals I've used it on brittle, but I also put a coat of Microscale Liquid Decal Film just to be on the safe side.

Airplane and armour modelers have been using this trick for years.

OK well I shall give it a shot and all the lettering is white if that makes a difference. Any idea how long this takes?

A day or two usually, depends on how much sun you get.
It's kinda like cooking, just check on them every once-in-a-while and remove when you have the desired degree of whiteness.

I've heard it's a good idea to put them in a ziplock baggie so they don't get damaged by sticking to the window or moisture.
