Model Railroading > Athearn SD70 ACE truck problem resolved - The fixDate: 11/20/10 13:20 Athearn SD70 ACE truck problem resolved - The fix Author: brfriedm Well I told myself that I was not not going to let this Athearn truck issue beat me. I found the fix and I wanted to share a video on how I did it. Hope this helps. She sure rides well now.

Alas, I picked up my UP 1982 earlier, and only issue I got was the left numberboard had came off. LHS guy said he hoped that maybe one of us didnt have that issue, seems like every 70 he has gotten has had the problem. The KCS and BNSF units he had on display both had one come off. I want a KCS unit dearly, but not sure I need it that bad. It would just make want to either get a second one or wait for a GEVO to make a full grain train. I have plenty of foreign power right now, and I'm trying to resist the urge of buying more. The warped truck thing isn't exactly new for Athearn. You'd think they would have figured it out. Was thinking about a Belle and a Mopac ACe, but with all the problems I'm reading about, I think I'll pass. Thanks for taking the time for doing your own Quality Control and sharing the information with us. I guess model railroading is turning into the software industry - avoid buying Version 1.0!
