Model Railroading > Rare "Vic Shattock" Locos Return to GGLS ClubDate: 06/19/11 07:46 Rare "Vic Shattock" Locos Return to GGLS Club Author: KeyRouteKen What's that old saying ? Don't "Never say Never" or something to that effect ?
At the recent Spring-2011 Meet at the track of the Golden Gate Live Steamers, an absolutely amazing event took place ... Some visitors showed up that represented the family of an old GGLS member who had passed away sometime back. In their vehicle they had TWO steam locomotives that they were wanting to sell as they didn't want them. Guess what ? They were both built by my late grandfather, Vic Shattock, GGLS Founder. I couldn't believe it. You don't see that happening every day ! One was VERY old (at least 77 years) and the other was around 40 years old. TWO of the GGLS members "scooped" those prizes up quick, right then and there. What were they you ask ? Let's take a look ... 1. The "old" one was a 1/2-inch scale, 2 1/2-inch gauge, 4-6-2, Baltimore & Ohio, "President Washington" # 5300 Vic built between 1934-1936. 2. The newer one is one of three British-types he built. In this case, a 1-inch scale, 4 3/4-inch gauge British "Stirling Single" ... (his 20th locomotive) I am outright thrilled that my Grandpa's engines are back in the Club for all to see! From what I understand, the new owner's will have them on display at the big 75th Anniversary Meet in July-2011. Check out the ATTACHED photos. Thanks everybody! KRK Edited 2 time(s). Do you know of any of his other locomotives that are still around?

I have two including his first SP Pacific P-4 he built in 1929. I won't part with it--can you blame me ? Are those rollers under the drivers on that British job to allow for running the engine in place?

Test run in place is correct. KRK Date: 06/19/11 10:21 Re: Rare "Vic Shattock" Locos Return to GGLS Club Author: wabash2800 The Pacific looks like she's collected a lot of dust.
