Tangent Scale Models is pleased to announce that our HO scale Pullman-Standard PS-2CD 4740 covered hopper is back and is available NOW in SEVEN new paint schemes. Pullman-Standard originally produced these game-changing covered hoppers between 1966 and 1972, and they remain in service today throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico. The Tangent Scale Models HO-scale replicas are a perfect addition to your layout or collection, and we continue to listen to your roadname desires with our industry-leading covered hoppers. This is not a pre-order announcement. Our NEW Ready to Run product release for June 2012 is available now at www.tangentscalemodels.com and includes the following seven roadnames:

- Chessie System B&O in the striking yellow and blue scheme, complete with accurate blue trucks! Also, just in time for this summer's August 2012 National Train Show in Grand Rapids, MI (which we will be at, by the way), our PS4740s are accurately painted with a "GR" shop repaint code! We don't miss details like this! Our cat is stunningly executed, check it and the Chessie System lettering out for yourself. Chessie is available in 6 road numbers.
- Conrail (CR) in the former EL gray Conrail scheme. These highly accurate cars include every detail, down to the former EL car number stencil on the car -- just like the prototype! Conrail is available in 3 road numbers, and don't forget that we offer Conrail ACF former PRR/PC gondolas as well.
- Illinois Central IC "Original Orange 1969" in the original orange and black scheme. These eye-catching orange cars are back again but in a new number series to match prototype IC deliveries. - Canadian National IC (CN) "Website" in the distinctive oxide red scheme present on modern-day CN hoppers. These "Service With Safety" cars feature a very accurate rendition of the CN noodle and proper 1969 details to reflect these former IC details accurately. CN is available in 3 road numbers – mix and match with IC cars to create a CN block!
- TLCX "Allied Mills" private operator car in the original white and black. These attractive cars include plenty of large and small white lettering to contrast with the black ends and underframe, stunningly executed. It is available in 3 road numbers.
- TLCX "Welch Grain" (Elkhart, IL) private elevator car in the as-delivered original dark green/black scheme. These attractive cars include plenty of large and small white lettering to contrast with the black ends and underframe, stunningly executed. It is available in 3 road numbers.
- BACK IN STOCK! Burlington Northern (BN) in the traditional 1970 as-built "Cascade Green" with large lettering and logo scheme - available again in 6 NEW road numbers. Some of these cars remain in operation today under BNSF serving all of North America.

All Tangent Scale Models PS4740 covered hoppers include relevant roadname –specific detail variations appropriate for their era of Pullman production, including configurations of: side ladders, jacking pads, centersill supports, crossover platforms, and running boards.

In a nutshell, what are the production differences between these two undec cars? Jacking pads? Something else?

Rick, thanks for asking. They were:

1. Centersill supports - with them early, without them late
2. Jacking pads - none early, 1970 production has the toe loop attached to the jacking pad
3. Stirrups on side ladders - box early, 2 step late

Both sets of undecs include Apex running boards and crossover platforms, although we offer Morton style walkways on RTR offerings when the prototype utilized them.

Tangent Scale Models products include all of these detail variations in RTR model form - likely unmatched in freight car offerings. We are passionate about Pullman grain hoppers like these.

Very nice indeed! but at $43 a pop, I'll have to stick with Athearn's blue box hoppers for my Penn Central grain train.
