Model Railroad Openhouse Schedule 2012 DE, NJ, PA, MD
Author: brfriedm

So our openhouses kicked off and this is our first full weekend. We had a busy day yesterday with 28 layouts open and today with 21 layouts open today. You can see our site here.

I only visited one layout yesterday as I had to get home and get ready for my own which I had last night. The below shots are from Carl Huth's Reading layout and then some shots from my openhouse. I had a very good crowd last night. Carl's is quite large and he has just started on the scenery which is looking good.

First shot - My man Chris. One of my best operators at 8 and he has been operating with me for a couple of years. His dad is the dispatcher. This is Chris's first openhouse operating alone with no assistance and he did awesome.

2nd shot - Chris's train waiting for a signal to head down to staging. Waiting on 2.

3rd - Q140 exists the tunnel at Darby. (Boone Tunnel)

1st shot - Q406 works Wilsmere yard off the siding
2nd shot - Slab train heads west at East Singerly
3rd shot - Q406 heads towards Philly after working Wilsmere Yard.

That's it. Visit some layouts or build one! :) Thanks.

Since y'all have model RR's in basements, how did most of the layouts fare after the storm?

As far as I know fine. I had no cancellations from any layout owners so far since the storm.

Thanks Very Much for posting all those great photos of two layouts. I think Carl Huth's scenery is excellent and the more he does the better. Being an older MRRer I appreciate all of the fine work to obtain such layout's. Any more photos of your layout are always appreciated.

Two very good looking layouts, especally yours, brfriedm, I am partial to Modern layouts.
Two questions: First, Where did you get the CSX yard tower from?
Second, the cab on CSXT #4005 who made the cab or is it scratch built?

Bruce,

You must have some fine dispatchers to be able to handle all of those trains on a single track railroad!

Good stuff, as always.

I used those cloud stencils and you use white spray paint cans to make them. Thanks. Bruce
