Ted Curphey Ontario, OR Date: 07/20/13 11:05 Re: NMRA Atlanta Show - Early Pics Bachmann GEVO/ACe in Author: MilwMike Is it me or does the Ace look a bit short? Could be the photo? Perhaps some painted models will make them look better.
But at those prices why would you buy a Bachmann one, when you can get an MTH or Atearn one at almost the same MSRP price? MilwMike Date: 07/20/13 11:39 Re: NMRA Atlanta Show - Early Pics Bachmann GEVO/ACe in Author: Larry020 Who pays Bachmann MSRP?

LOL Date: 07/20/13 13:00 Re: NMRA Atlanta Show - Early Pics Bachmann GEVO/ACe in Author: oilcan Honestly those look like junk. Plus by the time the first one is released, Athearn will probably have all of their NS Heritage ACes on the market.

The grab irons are applied separately but, are pushed right up against the nose. Are they nuts at Bachmann? I wonder when they will announce their F unit?
Rick Date: 07/20/13 16:54 Re: NMRA Atlanta Show - Early Pics Bachmann GEVO/ACe in Author: antlorch Ok why do seperate grabs on top of the nose and not on the front?

------------------------------------------------------- > Ok why do seperate grabs on top of the nose and > not on the front? As was said by a previous poster, the grabs are just pushed into far, I am sure that the production models will have them where they are supposed to be. And what the heck they at least have separate grabs, MU hoses and brake lines on the trucks unlike Kato latest offering! Andre Date: 07/20/13 18:04 Re: NMRA Atlanta Show - Early Pics Bachmann GEVO/ACe in Author: NSTopHat Having seen and handled the units first hand the grabs on the face of the nose are modled on and the ones on top are wire formed. The cross section of the fuel tank is wrong, just like the Intermountain units, and the ear handrails will be wrong as well. The db fan and radiator fans on the SD70ACE harken back to the old high hooded GP50 they produced years ago. The radiator core on the GE's have less depth than the old Tower 55 units.
I had ordered two for each of my kids. I will be cancelling all four of them from my LHS and will switch them over to Athearn units. Regards, Russ Date: 07/20/13 19:22 Re: NMRA Atlanta Show - Early Pics Bachmann GEVO/ACe in Author: bnsfsd70 Ya know, there's certainly a market for inexpensive Atlas Trainmanesque GEVO's and ACe's, but these appear to have all kinds of bizarre proportions and detail issues at a fairly steep price point. If they want to save costs by omitting detail, that's fine, but you've at least got to get the body dimensions correct. I could be wrong, but the wheelbase on the ACe looks pretty short.
Really not sure what Bachmann is getting at with these. - Jeff Date: 07/20/13 19:22 Re: NMRA Atlanta Show - Early Pics Bachmann GEVO/ACe in Author: antlorch I could tell from the close up picture of the Ace that the front grabs where molded on, look close at the pic. These might not be bad for $100.00 but noway for the price they are asking.
I don't understand who does the designs for these but they need to look at the other manufactures and what they are releasing to see what standards are being set. O well it is what it is. Date: 07/20/13 19:43 Re: NMRA Atlanta Show - Early Pics Bachmann GEVO/ACe in Author: bigmc83 Everyone is complaining about the SD70ACe being too short. Would not be surprised if both models are the same wheelbase in order to save money on tooling. The GEVO does not look bad, but the SD70ACe could use some improvements. Really thought Bachmann had something...

And i forgot to mention, the rear ditch lights will not function, "because that would cost too much..." per Lee Riley of Bachmann.
