Little Motors Need Love Too...
Author: wheel_slip

For some reason I have a small fleet of switchers... Very seldom do they come out to play as I seem to like the bigger locomotives better. But for lack of better judgement I seem to continue pick these little guys up from time to time. I keep saying no more... But... That doesn't work so well...

Here's an ex MKT switcher pausing between its task of sorting grain cars...

Nice...this could almost pass as a prototype scene. Nice work.

Very nice! Looks scruffy enough to be a real UP switcher. Nice weathering on the covred hoppers, also. Thanks for sharing your work.

Beautiful! I always enjoy your posts Andy, and this is no exception. I take it you did some sort of wash? Care to explain more? You really did a nice job without overdoing it.

I really like your backdrop. Is that a custom painting or something printed?

Hey guys, thanks for the comments...

The weathering on the switcher is several washes of AIM "Quick Age", then I take a Q-Tip dipped in plain rubbing alcohol and wipe the flat spots to smooth the effect out. The exhaust is black powder.

The backdrop is some old images I found on the internet.... They are simply on paper and it's time to replace them... I have found a company that prints on vinyl at a very decent price (allstatebanners.com) and have used them for the majority of my background... Soon this section will be redone.
