Model Railroading > Intermountain modifies Chessie autorack

I guess I wasn't the only one who was unhappy with Intermountain's initial plan to issue a B&O/Chessie autorack on a "TTX" flat and let them know about it. OK, order pending:

I'm really glad to see that they made that change, but I'm also anxious to see if they will use the correct corrugated logo panels that Chessie used on the prototype:

Apparently Intermountain has the tooling for those side panels but they didn't make it into the earlier runs. Hopefully this will be the first run to feature them.

Send them an e-mail about that! They certainly were responsive to the "Trailer Train" protest.

I did just that - you're right that they are very responsive. I'll let you know if I hear back from them.

I heard back very quickly from Intermountain. They commented that based on the prototype photos, the Chessie logos appears to be painted on panels that are both corrugated and perforated, i.e. standard side panels just like the rest, so it will be easy for them to replicate that on the Chessie model. I wasn't sure about the perforations (from looking at the photos on my phone), so I'm glad they caught that.

I really appreciate the quick response from Intermountain and their willingness to accept customer feedback and suggestions.
