Walthers Proto UP 949 951 963B and 5 new heritage cars
Author: EspeeGoldenState

For the Es:
* Prototype Specific Details:

* Finished in 1993-2000 Excursion Scheme * Elevated Horn Stand with Metal Leslie S5T-RR Five-Chime Horn * Extended Pilot MU Receptacles with Hoses * Modeler-Applied Ditch Light Castings (Non-operating) * Rotary Beacon (Non-operating) * Duct Mounted Winterization Snow Shields

* Available with Soundtraxx(R) Tsunami(R) Sound for DCC or DC Layouts

Wonder if the Tsunami versions will sound like a non-turbo charged 645 like the real thing?

Also they are rerunning the original 6 heritage cars with new product numbers and doing 5 more both with and without lights:

UPP 5473 85' ACF 44-Seat Coach Portland Rose
UPP 5480 85' ACF 44-Seat Coach Sunshine Special
UPP 9004 85' ACF Dome Lounge Harriman
UPP 9005 85' ACF Dome Lounge Walter Dean
UPP 8008 85' ACF Dome Diner City of Portland

That's wonderful news, hopefully they are listening and fixed the too-narrow fuel tank problem or it is a no-go for me. === === = === JLH

Are they running the original versions too? I would like another B unit.

With the high prices of the CITY series locos and cars, I wonder if they will re-run those as well. Wonder if the locos will get the proper grey ends.

The first run of E-9s are correct in having the "cigar band" of yellow on the ends. Solid gray ends came in the the very late 50's to 1960 time frame. Walthers first batch were to represent the units about 1955-56, after the addition of the "snow shields" but still in early paint. The spelled out "UNION PACIFIC" across the nose was added in 1959.

By the way, my pet peeve (besides the fuel tank skirt) is that Walthers has the blasted nose warning light default to always being on - NO the real light was for certain stops on the main and for emergency stops. Leave them off for routine operation!
