We put some time working on our city scenes this weekend. Adding a new local branch to our industrial Los Angeles scene.

1. Southern Pacific Local makes its way down Alameda Street about to cross the double track main of the Santa Fe.
2. Closer look and able to look down Alameda.
3. Engineer waits for a freight to pass on the main before he heads back to pick up the rest of his train.

Who doesn't love street trackage? Very nice.

1. Couple months ago our LA scene looked like this before we started to add to the foreground.
2. The new SP Branch line comes together.
3. Last week Cut out some of the old road on Alameda to put in a dummy crossing with the main line.

1. Dummy crossings coming together. The single track is a dead end line near the end of the benchwork.
2. Paster added to Alameda street. And added a junction to the left with the brand line that runs for a while to the left. Worked a lot on the paster sanding and using a razor blade to scrape away around the rails. Have learned to scrape away below the tops of the rails so that after I add paint, I can use a bright boy to clean without scraping away the paint too.
3. Spray Painted Alameda Street this morning with some different greys and back. After it dried I did a wash of concrete and water to give it that dust and dirty look of an industrial street.

Lots more work to do. Need to add curbs and lots of scenery but a little bit at a time.

Nice modeling. It has the feel of LA. But that LATL bus is a little out of place. Maybe it is one of Ralph Cantos' on a movie shoot?

We got out of the city to watch a heavy freight with Rio Grande power heading up the canyon.

Excellent industrial scenes very remenicent of the exSanta Fe and exSP around Alameda. Used to work the Santa Fe jobs in the area around Alameda and Ninth Street called the "patch" job. Before radios they had to "swing out" (add men) to the jobs for passing signs to the engineer around the many curves between buildings where visibility was only a few car lengths.

Those street scenes sure take me back to the 1940's and 50's. Great stuff!

Not too many people can capture an industrial scene like that...very nice work!
