Hi guys,

We've just sent out the latest Rapido News. It's all about the VIA/Amtrak LRC. Orders for the locomotive must be in by next Thursday as the numbers go to China on Friday.

The photo below shows the real LRC locomotive owned by the TRHA. We finally got it running this month after 13 years in storage.

One point Jason, I think the Highliner A unit still took longer than your LRC loco - 12 years. While it was not a full loco, it was a highly anticipated, high detail model. It contributed a lot of advertising $$$$ to magazines and may be one of the longest running adverts for the magazines.

Too bad they never put this LRC on the Calgary - Edmonton run.

Hi Ed,

It's hard to tell. We've had a lot of direct orders, which is great. But we'll really see a surge in orders in February. It's just a trickle until then.

Not sure if I mentioned this before, but the vast majority of orders so far have been for DC models. I think the DCC models are just too expensive for a lot of people, especially if they want to build a fleet. I wish we could price them lower, but because of the way our American models are distributed we are actually making less of a margin on these models than on the GMD-1 and FPA-4 models priced $25 cheaper.

Interestingly, I got a nasty email from someone yesterday after my newsletter went out, telling me that he has unsubscribed because our newsletters don't contain anything American. I guess the FL9s must have been on McCarthy's "UnAmerican" list..... :-)

Sorry you had to go through that. Another possible explanation is there are some "Americans" who do not view the FL9 service area (New York and Boston) as part of the "real" America.

This is so true, not only in Railroading, I grew up in Rhode Island, and when you say that you get the "look?", so I now just say "The island next to Long Island" and they say Oh and move on !!,,, but as far as the FL 9 is concerned, It's no more Local than a lot of West coast offerings we on the East coast have to roll our eyes and say "maybe next year", I have 1 DCC/Sound on preorder and when they get closer want to add a couple DCC ready/only ..

I have placed my order for the FL 9's with my favorite source, now I am dreaming of EP 5's.

Well I can dream, can't I??

I am still waiting for the Bachpersons E 33's in N scale
