Great Oregon Steam Up (BLI or Athearn SW1500?)
Author: jdb

The Great Oregon Steam Up at Brooks, Oregon was this past weekend and again this coming weekend. If you want to see anything steam powered this is the place. A SP steam crane, steam sawmill, steam tractors, trolley, a car show, cat museum, John Deere museum, logging museum, blacksmith shop, and on and on.....

Then there is a swap meet that covers the north forty. Any kind of junk that has been stored in your Grandfathers barn for fifty years. Among the stuff I saw at various displays(?) were a G scale three truck shay, an American Flyer engine, O gauge engine, a couple HO box cars (broken), and a Tru Scale dual track HO/Hon3 curved switch on wooden ties. Not like a model railroad swap meet but these pieces were among the rotary dial telephones, old magazines, china, tools, cross cut saws, 1961 Corvair (engine runs, doesn't move), and any other junk you have ever seen in a garage sale.

First two pics are the Willow Creek Railroad and the third is on the Salem G scale clubs modular layout that they show here each year.

It was made by Rail Systems that used to be in Oregon. And yes its a SW 1500 with a Vanguard V twin 18hp, hydraulic drive to the wheels.
