Tunnel motors and snow service SD9Es at RS Tower
Author: bxmoore

I took some toys along to run on the excellent Exeter-based RS Tower layout yesterday.

Firstly, a video of four tunnel motors on a freight drag, and then some pictures of SP 4350 & SP 4343 on flanger duty. I finally got around to cutting some thin brass strip to fashion some icicle breakers for SP 4343, and planted them in the lower position, so that the loco can also be used in non-snow-service regular duties on the club layout. It was common for flanger sets to run with only one set of icicle breakers raised.

As always, thanks for looking.

Preservation of the Espee in a grand way.

Question on the SP reefers there looks to be a lot of different era paint jobs is there any point in time were all these would be on the same train

In the early-to-mid-eighties, it was pretty well mix-and-match, between orange and white. There's a picture with a similar mixture from 1984 on page 410 of Thompson, Church and Jones' PFE book.
