Palm trees in Dunsmuir?

Well at least on John Signors layout. John has been replacing his old palms with some new ones shown here around the Indio Station. We stopped in to see him this afternoon and he was hard at work cranking them out.

Looks like Indio to me. And quite convincing.
And maybe the outdoor temperature today was sort of like Indio too?
Well done and well photographed, thanks.

They look fantastic! Love to hear more information about them. Are they kits?

It's just not a railroad station in California without a "depot palm" or two!

I spent many a day in my youth under the eves of that building watching all the train activity in the early 1960's. Those were the days.....

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that any project John does will turn out amazing!

I though the palms were shown in a recent Trainline. There some sort of laser cut flat material, they have to be separated and painted.

Many of the date palms planted by the SP have outlived their stations by decades. If you're searching Google or Bing Maps and wondering where the old passenger depot was, look for a date palm or two, and a maybe a hint of foundation nearby.

This is Lathrop (Junction) on the UP, formerly the Southern Pacific, in North Central California.
