Model Railroading > MP36PH-3C NM Railrunner sound QDate: 09/29/14 03:47 MP36PH-3C NM Railrunner sound Q Author: atsf643 Guys,
what sound decoder would match this loco best? They have both an EMD 645 prime mover and a Caterpillar HEP. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPI_MPXpress#MP36PH-3C My preference is Soundtraxx Tsunamis. I'm in HO scale. Thanks Jürgen Jürgen Dietrichkeit Weilheim, BY Date: 09/29/14 04:46 Re: MP36PH-3C NM Railrunner sound Q Author: Frank30 I am a SoundTraxx fan also. Not to the point where I change out a different brand that may have come with the engine, except the
ill-fated MRC in the Athearn F45s. However I purchased a True Line Trains Mp36 with MBTA lettering and with LokSound installed. Now that is an excellent sound decoder. The sound is loud enough to be able to hear in a noisy room, so you have a lot of latitude to decrease it if necessary. Horn and bell may be played with prime mover off. Lighting effects are great. If you can find out which LokSound the factory used on that engine, that would be my first choice. The 645 sound along with the separate Caterpillar diesel sound isn't available anywhere else.
