Model Railroading > 3D scanning the prototypeDate: 10/21/14 19:19 3D scanning the prototype Author: rapidotrains Hi guys,
Dan and I spent a gruelling day today outside in the wind and the rain helping with the 3D scan of Rapido's new train. To preserve the innocent, the prototype we scanned has been Photoshopped out and replaced with something else entirely. So who can guess what prototype we REALLY scanned today? We're making the official announcement at the Springfield show. -Jason Date: 10/21/14 21:08 Re: 3D scanning the prototype Author: rrhistorian I will guess a CP rebuilt GP9u.
Date: 10/21/14 21:50 Re: 3D scanning the prototype Author: railwaybaron Boring.
Date: 10/21/14 22:01 Re: 3D scanning the prototype Author: PHall RDC-4?
Date: 10/21/14 22:52 Re: 3D scanning the prototype Author: rschonfelder Well you haven't travelled anywhere other than TO (for you Meriken's; that stands for Toronto, Ontario and not "Train Orders") it must be something close. You said it has Canadian connections so it may be an RDC of some sort.
After all, your kids will be needing to attend College somewhere down the road so you'll be needing a product which will bring in a ton of money. Please do the wrap around fluting for the BCR people out there. Rick Date: 10/21/14 22:56 Re: 3D scanning the prototype Author: MrMRL HO scale model of the CN Tower??? (Would scale down to just under 21 feet tall...)

If we are wishing, I agree with Rick. Date: 10/22/14 07:56 Re: 3D scanning the prototype Author: fbe Oh great, now the model will be too wide and tall by the thickness of the water on the surface of the rain water. I can just hear the internet howl over that issue.
Seriously, thanks for spending the time and money to try to get the model right when an existing prototype is available. Posted from Windows Phone OS 7 Date: 10/22/14 08:10 Re: 3D scanning the prototype Author: Sasquatch m420 Wrote:

Thanks, -Tom Date: 10/22/14 08:16 Re: 3D scanning the prototype Author: railburner Well....you weren't 'down here', 3D scanning the FA-1's and the FA-2's (or even the FB's) ! Lol. 'Cause we didn't have the wind and rain yesterday! Plus I would have laid on the horn as we went by....
Railburner Date: 10/22/14 11:23 Re: 3D scanning the prototype Author: railwaybaron Zzzzzzzzzz
Date: 10/22/14 18:41 Re: 3D scanning the prototype Author: kpcmcpkva they have done the Osgood Bradlys in HO and they are on the way in N scale. They have also announced Fl9's in both scales.
I'm looking forward to a GE ep5 to complete the NH troika Date: 10/22/14 20:52 Re: 3D scanning the prototype Author: PHall railwaybaron Wrote:
