Model Railroading > Pacific Northwest RPM - This Saturday!Date: 10/29/14 02:45 Pacific Northwest RPM - This Saturday! Author: RAS We're down to just a few days! How are those model projects coming? Hope you can join us!
=-=-= Join us for the 2014 Edition of RAILS BY THE BAY, A Pacific Northwest Railroad Prototype Modelers Meet Saturday, Saturday, November 1, 9AM to 5PM Monroe, WA, Evergreen State Fairgrounds Bldg 501 Presented by Brian Rutherford, Rick Selby, Liz Allen, Peter Kim, Bob Zenk. http://www.northwestrpm.com All scales, eras, and prototypes welcomed! Bring your models and dioramas to the Puget Sound event in October! Non-competitive, no intimidation, just share your work with other modelers and learn new ideas and techniques. Our new location this year sits adjacent to the BNSF's Scenic Subdivision (aka Stevens Pass). Monroe also offers many restaurant options, hotel accommodations, and easy access to many local railfan and outdoor attractions. This year's facility offers plenty of room for modules and dioramas, so don't worry about how much you bring - we have room! This 2014 edition of the Pacific Northwest RPM meet is presented in memory of Keith Thompson, who passed earlier this year after losing his battle with pancreatic cancer. Participate in a full day of activities including: • Model displays and dioramas - bring your models for display • Clinics - hear from well-known members of the hobby community (great lineup this year - details to be announced) • Manufacturer Displays - see products of interest from model manufacturers • Raffle drawing - chance to win lots of great prizes • Social discussion area - meet and chat with your fellow model railroad hobbyists LOCATION: Evergreen State Fairgrounds 4H Building (Building 501) 14405 179th Ave SE Monroe, WA 98272 http://www.evergreenfair.org ADMISSION: 15 Dollars, or receive discounted admission of 12 dollars when you bring at least one model for display. Author: RAS And for those who wonder about the name - Rails By The Bay - when we host the event near Puget Sound, there's history here. We originally started this event in Bellingham, which adjoins Bellingham Bay. Due to venue availability, we subsequently moved it to the fairgrounds in Monroe, with a stop in Bellevue along the way a few years back. So while the venue is new, the name persists.
I guess we could rename the event "Rails By Salish Sea" to give us future location flexibly at any location from Olympia to Vancouver BC, but that doesn't have nearly the ring to it.... :-) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salish_Sea Hope to see you there! -Rick Rick Selby Redmond, WA Pacific Northwest RPM Edited 2 time(s). I am steeling my nerves for the 400+ mile over three mountain passes (Lookout, 4th of July and Snoqualmie) where snows are forecast.

-Kevin Date: 10/29/14 10:28 Re: Pacific Northwest RPM - This Saturday! Author: PHall You could always rename it "Rails by the Sound".
Or not... Date: 10/29/14 11:32 Re: Pacific Northwest RPM - This Saturday! Author: TCnR PHall Wrote:

I was thinking RPM by the Dairy, but that would be the town of Carnation. Monroe had a Penitentiary nearby, but we just wont go there. Wiki for the Strait but also the Salish Sea (yes I get it now), which is dated 2008, too recent for me (not my era): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strait_of_Juan_de_Fuca Edited 1 time(s). Should be a fun event. Date: 10/29/14 14:44 Re: Pacific Northwest RPM - This Saturday! Author: RAS K-Pack Wrote:

Look forward to meeting you. -Rick Rick Selby Redmond, WA Pacific Northwest RPM Date: 10/30/14 11:43 Re: Pacific Northwest RPM - This Saturday! Author: Sasquatch Monroe is right up the Snohomish River from Everett's Port Gardner Bay, so the name still works for me!
-Tom PS... for beer-drinking and pub food after the event, try Everett's Anchor Pub at the west end of Hewitt Avenue; watch trains right from your barstool going by the big window on BNSF's highline, into the west portal of the tunnel under Everett. |
