Just asking, didn't the N&W normally run long hood forward and short hood aft? Date: 11/21/14 13:33 Re: N&W high hoods Author: march_hare Yup. I got around this by declaring this to be the only unit on a local, thus requiring it to run bakwards on at least part of the trip.
Plus, you did see NW units running short hood forward at times. Date: 11/21/14 14:20 Re: N&W high hoods Author: BruceStikkers Great shot, hard to tell it is a model unless you stare at the uncoupling pin. Scenery is as nice as the loco.

All of the N&W's high hood locomotives were equipped with dual control stands, so that the engineer could easily operate the locomotive in either direction for maximum operating flexibility. ------------------------------------------------------- > Lovely. How was the sedimentary rock done? Not to go all commercial here, but the rocks are Shale 9 (at the bottom) and Shale 8 (at the top) from our Rubber Rocks product line. They are thin sheets of textured latex rubber, cut to fit the space available and then hot glued to a foam insulation board substrate. Part of a demonstration diorama that I haul around to train shows. Gardiner Cross Cripplebush Valley Models |
