Ken McCorry's awesome PRR layout
Author: brfriedm

So I only got out to one Model RR for openshouse this weekend but it was a great one. Ken McCorry's huge and awesome HO PRR layout. Ken models the Buffalo line PRR 1956-1957. The layout is probably 95% sceniced and as you will see, the scenery is magnificent. Layout has 1600 freight cars and 200 engines in service. Layout has 10,000 feet of track and about a 1500' main line run. Layout is about 56'X 112' in size and sits in a custom built building. It may be the largest privately owned layout in the US.

I have had the honor of operating this layout and it can take easily 2 hours to make a run with a train during operating sessions.

Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving.

Picture of the dipatcher's area on the 1st floor. Layout is on the 2nd floor. It takes 3 dispatchers to run the layout and 30 folks to run a full session. Layout is fully signaled and is DCC.

Also a picture of the building that was custom built for the layout. A beautiful building also.

That will do it. I could post plenty more but my hands are tired and you get the effect.

One week left on the openhouse month. So many great layouts to see.

Thanks Bruce

How many levels are on that layout? Is there a helix to get between levels or does it just go around the walls?

Great pictures!
