Get Your Coach Yard SP Support Cars!
Author: obsessedfoamer

The Coach Yard and Espee community needs your help to fill reservation numbers on the "Business Train Support Cars".

They compliment the Official Cars just released.
( Oakland, Stanford, Airslie )

Please help make this project happen.

Given the incredible job with the current run of SP Business Cars from The Coach Yard, I am certain that these support cars will be just as exquisite.. but ONLY if people place reservations will these much needed companion cars be possible.

Cheers,
Harry

Agree with Harry - the first batch of cars in this series are exquisite.... If you're on the fence, hop off and call your dealer.

A minor, but important correction to their brochure shown at the top of this post: the SP 292 10-6 sleeper from the Sunset Limited is former SP 9009, not 9007. The 9009 still exists in private ownership and is stored in City of Commerce, CA. It is one of only 3 Budd 10-6's in the country that did not go to Amtrak and is still all original inside and out.

Maybe the lack of orders is because a communications gap. A couple of weeks ago I was at Coach Yard's "mother store" Original Whistle Stop and tried to order the SPPD car and was told by a clerk that all were sold out! After reading the above TO notice, I called the Conductor at OWS Fred Hill and he said they were still available and he put me down for one reservation. It may be to TO members' advantage to deal directly with Coach Yard/Whistle Stop mogul Hill to be sure of a reservation.

After painting some of these cars into "Daylight" colors. SP donated 290 and 291 to the California State RR Museum in Sacramento. They are in service as part of the "Pol;ar Express" trainset.

Did you tell Fred which clerk gave you the bad info?

Are any of those SP business cars still around or all sold out? I just did a look around some of my favourite brass dealers and cannot find any.

I spoke with Fred at the SP convention about these and he had no concern about orders in his voice. The Business cars are pricy, but phenomenal models. Look at the photos above and look at the gasket line on the thermal pane widows. Wow. I've had the support cars on order for about 2 months.
Fred's only comment to me was "We're going to fast track these" We can hope they are.
Here's the Coast 125 on the business car track at Indio.

Rick - check the Trainshop in Santa Clara, Ca. (no website) There were a number of them in stock last Friday when I was there.

I've *seen* the SSW business car, and it is absolutely gorgeous!
I note that it costs approximately ten times what I paid for my first automobile and nearly eighty times what I paid for my then-new Ken Kidder Harriman shorty baggage-RPO. SIGH...I wish that I could afford to shell out for some of these, but given that I would have to go back to running engines in order to do this, I am content merely to drool.

The 9009 is the former SP 292 and it is stored in City of Commerce, CA on the LA Junction Ry.
