Model Railroading > The Class of 1983: DRGW 3129 & 3130Date: 12/17/14 14:19 The Class of 1983: DRGW 3129 & 3130 Author: lizzard_45 The D&RGW wrecked a couple of GP40s in the early '80s. THey sent the parts back to EMD, and received 3129 and 3130 in 1983. These were the only GP40-2s built in 1983. EMD was gearing up for GP50 production.
Athearn Genesis did a great job with these. Paul Liddiard Spanish Fork, UT Date: 12/17/14 14:56 Re: The Class of 1983: DRGW 3129 & 3130 Author: RyanWilkerson I have always liked the look of these two units.

Although EMD was in the midst of GP50 production (it and the GP40-2 were carried concurrently in EMD's catalog for a few years), Florida East Coast continued buying GP40-2s. FEC's last two GP40-2s, #433 and 434, were built in December 1986. The GP40-2 original owner roster contains built dates of all GP40-2s constructed http://www.trainweb.org/jaydeet/gp40-2.htm For comparison, the GP50 roster is here http://www.trainweb.org/jaydeet/gp5049.htm Date: 12/17/14 18:58 Re: The Class of 1983: DRGW 3129 & 3130 Author: lizzard_45 Thanks, Albrae. I knew that they weren't the last of the GP40-2s, but they were the only ones built in 1983.
