Question RE Tank car platforms

I'd like to replace the platforms on an N scale 6-dome wine tank car. Assuming it would be the same as any other tank car, what was used for these platforms --
diamond plate, or the same "grating" used for boxcar roof walks?

Grating was common once wood was retired. The open grating did not get covered in snow and ice would in the old days. Tank cars had more people on the walkways during loading and unloading than other cars did.
