I am looking forward to getting my UP pair.Is the nose on the NS version ,the same as the other UP variation. If so ,can I assume it will be offered on the UP models on another run.
Regards,dK

The NS version has the FIRE cab phase two nose. The UP version has the M cab nose. I would assume Athearn might produce the Phase II noses on UP schemes later on, but the choice is theirs to make.

They look fine to me but, I'm sure somebody will find something they don't like.

Finally! The wait for the Flared and Phase II Cabs is almost over. The NS look good, just add in an aftermarket PTC Array and its good to go.

I should add, I am also glad Athearn dropped their older OMI horns and re-did some of them. The new K5LA's loo much better now.

Wow, all they need are a pair of grabs on the plow, and these units would be out of the ballpark!

now all Athearn needs is a Port of Entry other than Long Beach, or air freight them ! otherwise from production photo's to layout will be 2 years or more, meantime my new MTH is working on the layout now.

The models are on a ship now. Only thing that can hold them up is a possible longshoreman slow down or strike.

I wonder if we will see the "wheel in the air" phenomenon that has been an issue for the SD70 series of units from Athearn. James, can you check to see if all the wheels are making contact with the rails?

I did not notice any floating truck issues. I went back down to the basement to check the models again, they seem to make good contact around curves, etc.
