August 1976 RMC issue
Author: 4thDistrict

I am looking for a copy of an article in the August 1976 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman. The article title should be "C636F: Alco's full-bodied Freighters" or simliar. The article aparently has information and drawings for a proposed Alco C636 intended for passenger use. The proposal was a response to ATSF's request for a new cowl bodied loco for their passenger trains. ATSF eventually chose GE's U30CG and EMD's FP45 proposals, and the ALCO proposal never materialized.

A scan of the pages emailed to me is good enough. Please private reply if you can provide the scans or snail-mailed copies.

Thanks!

Alco had a number of designs that never saw the light of day.
Such as the C-620...

IIRC, this was an Alco proposal for the Santa Fe to compete with the EMD F45 and FP45 and the GE U30CG. I think Preston Cook or Win Cuisinier (I always get those two mixed up) did the RMC drawings.

If anything else, there are a handful of copies of this on eBay right now.

Preston Cook and Win Cusinier are the same person.

Maybe that's why I get them confused. ;-)
