Helena, MT train show Sunday 04/26
Author: fbe

For the 35th year the annual event in the Civic Center (the building with the minarets) begins at 9:30 and runs until 4:00. Admission is $3 with free admission under 12. Parking is free but limited at the civic center lot. This is bordered by a residential area.

There will also be a swap meet in Livingston the day before at the depot there from 10-4. This marks 25 years for that show.

I have no financial interest with either event but I get to meet a lot of friends these days.

The dirt road over Mullan Pass is not yet open so if you come from the west stay on McDonald Pass on US 12.

Parking next to the building is limited, but the big public lot on the east side of the Civic Center is free on weekends. The weathermen are saying showery weather so you don't want to fly kites of go to the lake. C'mon over and see what there is to see. There will be operating large scale for the children, a modular two-rail O scale layout and a sizeable N scale modular layout by the Bozeman group. Speaking of N scale, it looks like there's going to be more of that than usual this year. And don't forget to ask for this year's freightcar magnet!

Today is Saturday so don't forget to swing by the local ATM for some crisp $20s and then gas up the flivver for the trip. Throw in a couple of shopping bags for purchases. Have fun.

If you are coming from the west the Avon Cafe is a pretty good place for dinner while Helena has a brew pub or two as well.
