BKTY 150941 PS 5344 cu ft boxcar
Author: Albrae

If you have either Athearn's Pullman-Standard 5344 cu ft boxcar, or the HO scale PS 5344 kit from ExactRail, here is a potential project

The car was recently repainted with BKTY reporting marks and features large GATX lettering on the right-hand side (the "GA" are obscured by the open door).  This photo shows a similar application of the new paint on an FMC built boxcar

Thought it might be an easy and interesting project for you modern day modelers.  Enjoy!

I think BKTY was a Katy reporting mark, no? Maybe for a group of leased cars? I think WRWK was the Warwick RR in Rhode Island.

Katy?  So BKTY has nothing to do with Burger King?

BKTY reporting marks were used to identify freight cars acquired by the Missouri-Kansas-Texas railroad through the Bankers' Leasing Corp, a major financier of rail cars in the 1960's and
1970's. Bankers' Leasing was acquired by Southern Pacific and was operated as part of Espees' diversified business portfolio for many years.  Cheers, Fergie

BKTY is a current UP reporting mark - not unheard of for a lessor (in this case GATX) to put their name on a leased car.
