Model Railroading > Who likes Sharks?

Who else thought the RF-16 was a classy body style? I always liked them, and the EMD F series....

I purchashed an A/B set of PRR they are great real good sound !!! We are talking BLI of course.

 How about some real sharks (ex NYC of course)... Sayre PA, October 1972..

Yes they were. And they still exist somewhere in Michigan.

I've always thought they were designed by a committee.  But, as already said, I am more interested in the West.  That is a fantasic photo above though.  I love looking at photos like that with lots of freight cars and things lying around.

I also have had a soft spot for the Sharks. both kinds and I am mostly a west coast kind of guy.

I am a Western guy, a Denver & Rio Grande Western guy, but I still like the Sharks.
The have somewhat of the T-1 styling to them.
And in my world, since Alfred Edward Perlman left the Rio Grande to become president of the NYC, he sent a pair back to Salt Lake City for testing...still in the cigar band scheme.

That's no accident...Raymond Lowey designed both the PRR's unique T-1 and the Shark for Baldwin, and had said that he designed the Shark as the "diesel version" of the T-1 design.

Count me in as a shark fan...just not the hockey team one;)

Hey now, what's wrong with San Jose?! :P I've always thought the Baldwin Sharks were some of the most intriguing engines from the time frame.

Yeah, they're cool looking units, but hands down, my favorites are the EJ&E ones as seen here.  The 6-axle PRR units were pretty baller too.

Great Sayre shot, but the date is off by a couple of years.  Sharks didn't arrive on the D&H until 74 or 75.

That nose just looks like it was designed to bust drifts in the Midwest.
