Livin' Large, underwater
Author: WrongWayMurphy

Record amount of rainfall in East Texas has submerged our yard trackage.  The main line and
passing siding is to the left on raised trackage that fared much better than the yard track.  The yard
is double ended and is also underwater behind me.  At least we know the yard is flat and level.

With lightening and thunder threatening again today, we moved inside and upgraded
six freight cars, adding pass-through air lines and new stainless eyebolts for safety chains.

On the PFE reefer one can barely make out the black plastic tubing air line running adjacent to the
2" tubing running down the length of the car center.  This car doesn't have brakes but others do so
the air needs to travel the length of the train to get to the cars with brakes.  We joke that this reefer
will be used to house the margarita machine during meets.

The two stacked T&P cars also got the upgraded treatment, as did a boxcar, another flat and another gon.

There is always work to do if not outside, then inside.

Based on what I have seen on the news from Texas and Oklahoma, you are definitely living large but hardly underwater LOL.

Almost everything in north central Tx and E. Texas has had so much rain that walking in your yard feels like walking on sponge rubber.  Our AV&W track is simply a swamp with so many mosquitoes it would take a A-bomb to get rid of them.  Right of way is so soft we don't dare try to run .  Got 2 more inches last night and they say it will rain 7 more days. We have broke a rain record set in 1957 and it keeps raining.

Somebody sent Asia's   monsoon season to Texas.  It was great to see lakes fill up.  But, whoever it is that is praying for rain-----please stop!.

The water appears to be less than 6 scale inches over the rail so it is OK to operate diesels on the track. Steam has no such restriction since there are no traction motors nor gear boxes to foul. Watch out for soft spots in the roadbed. Walking speed only.
