Removing Bachmann G Scale lettering

I'm working on converting a Bacmann G scale red Santa Fe coach into a diner and need to remove the numbers off the car side. (Plating over a few windows, redoing the interior and adding adding additional roof detail and letting the car should do it.)

I've looked on the Internet and see there are some recommendations but no real evidence for what I need to do.

Any success stories out there??

I've used MicroScale MicroSet, the red lable, and scrubbed Walthers lettering off with a Q-Tip. I does take 4 or 5 minutes but the paint under it was perfect when I got done.
