Scalecoat "thinner" question
Author: jburek

Just inherited several cans of Scalecoat thinner l & ll.  Some of these cans are 24 -25 years old.  Can this stuff go bad??  I'm a little hesitant to use it.

Depends, if the containers were well sealed I would have no problem using it, if they were not sealed and have been allowed to evaporate off no. But there is an easy way to find out if it is good, mix some up and shoot it on a piece of styrene etc

If they were not well sealed the cans would be empty.

The solvents are not prone to 'going bad'. After all, the substances in them are already millions of years old.
