Broadway Hudson DCC Issues

I have a HO Broadway Limited J3a Hudson brass hybrid and it runs great set on address 3 however, soon as I add the 4 digit road number the thing will just take off full power and I'm unable to control it. I'm using a NCE system on my layout. Ever heard of this before? Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

I had a similar problem. Fixed it by using the reprogram function which restored the chip. Then programmed it as normal and it was fine after that. I would suggest starting there
