Model Railroading > decoder issueDate: 10/06/15 18:00 decoder issue Author: HB90MACH Seam to have developed a decoder problem. The locomotive is an HO atlas gold series GP40-2 from the latest run two years ago. The problem it was running when the speaker started giving off static. And the sound stopped. The locomotive ran fine afterward just no sound. I did take it off the track right away. No smell of a short. I figure the speaker went or a bad connection. I opened it up, and not it does not run at all. or respond. The speaker does crackle when tapped a certain way. The decoder gets warm but not over heat. No signs or smells or a failure from a short. Connections are fine.
Program failure possibly? Date: 10/06/15 19:25 Re: decoder issue Author: funnelfan Speaker could have shorted out, and that may have already damaged the decoder. Could try switching out the speaker to see if that helps.
