Model Railroading > Rapido gets into the paint businessDate: 02/01/16 12:37 Rapido gets into the paint business Author: brfriedm I saw from Chris's post that Rapido is getting into the paint business. I have seen ads from another place in Canada that was selling a new Acrylic paint. I remember them to be all Canadian colors and this line from Chris's pictures looks similar. Did Rapidio purchase this line of paints?
Anyways, I know Jason is on here. In looking at the colors, I see 99% Canadian colors but I did spot Conrail Blue in the mix. So the obvious question is does Rapido plan to expand into US based colors? I miss the Floquil Polyscale paints and I prefer Acrylic so I am holding off on Tru Color. Any thoughts. Thanks Bruce PS - Pictures from Chris's post. Date: 02/01/16 14:27 Re: Rapido gets into the paint business Author: rapidotrains The paint is Dan Darnell's baby. He does plan to expand it to many more US colors.
We're shipping the first batch in the spring. -Jason Date: 02/01/16 14:44 Re: Rapido gets into the paint business Author: fbe That is good, I need the NAR matches for the GMD-1s so I can paint a pair of SD38-2s to run with them.
I will be looking for the paint in Calgary in April. Posted from iPhone Date: 02/01/16 15:03 Re: Rapido gets into the paint business Author: superchief73 Great! Im willing to try out the paint!

Great to see the new line introduced. Jay Date: 02/01/16 17:14 Re: Rapido gets into the paint business Author: cslemp garr Wrote:

I actually took a photo (that didn't make it into the final upload) of the sign next to the F unit which read that it was painted with "VIA Blue." The photo might be a little dark. I was using my iPhone and the lighting in those buildings can be a little sketchy. - Chris http://www.milepost15.com https://www.facebook.com/milepost15 Edited 3 time(s). If VIA blue it is too light to match that used on the Georgia/West Point Route. Jay Date: 02/02/16 05:07 Re: Rapido gets into the paint business Author: rschonfelder rapidotrains Wrote:

~Steve Date: 02/02/16 09:49 Re: Rapido gets into the paint business Author: up421 Jason,
I'm very glad to hear that Rapido is adding paint to the product lineup. Is the paint suitable for application with a brush or other paint applicator in addition to using an airbrush? I prefer to use a small brush for detail work and passenger car interiors. Thats the reason for the brush question. Thanks. I see some colours that look possible but the one that jumps out at me is the brown for those lovely 52' boxcars which were done by Andreas Keller and then Sylvan took over the casting. Rick Date: 02/02/16 17:17 Re: Rapido gets into the paint business Author: dbinterlock Well, I didn't see any reference to NAR colors, but the "More to Come" on the sign, plus Canadian preponderance has me all excited.

It is a Canadian company which has a history of NAR models.
The three NAR colors are something they might use and certainly products I have need for. I asked for Rapido's consideration. Time will tell. Posted from iPhone Date: 02/03/16 05:05 Re: Rapido gets into the paint business Author: Hiline ssloansjca Wrote:
