Model Railroading > Whatever happened to the SDP40F?Date: 02/02/16 14:16 Whatever happened to the SDP40F? Author: rschonfelder Last year there was all kinds of certainty surrounding this announcement being made by Athearn at the Portland convention.
Did Athearn decide to put egg on the face of people who let this info out? Rick Date: 02/02/16 14:25 Re: Whatever happened to the SDP40F? Author: RetireMe Believe the molds are being cut. Lots of research put into the project.
Date: 02/02/16 15:10 Re: Whatever happened to the SDP40F? Author: cabinman The word that it is being done was put out last year by Craig Walker, Head man of project development at Athearn. This will be a big deal when completed.
Lots of tooling and artwork to cover all the versions. It will most likely be announced officially when they have a model in hand. Author: toledopatch The last thread about this said an announcement is expected at this year's National Train Show (NMRA convention).

Perhaps Kato's N scale unit gave pause,,,,redoing it in HO is not hard to do given the CAD files and models are scaleable. Bob Date: 02/03/16 07:11 Re: Whatever happened to the SDP40F? Author: bnsfsd70 Yeah, but it's Kato. They're not exactly known for, you know, HO anymore.
