Model Railroading > athearn vs MTH union pacific paint comparison?Date: 02/09/16 20:52 athearn vs MTH union pacific paint comparison? Author: suvart I was wondering if anyone had the newer runs of the athearn UP SD70ACe (PTC applied from factory, high or low headlight.) and the new MTH ES44AC. If so how close does the paint match? Is it really noticable unweathered that there is a paint difference? I ask because I got one of the new SD70ACes with ptc and a low headlight from athearn about a year ago, and it doesnt match the old athearn paint colors. So now I need a second unit that is "new" enough to be unweathered for my executive train, but matches the newer color from the athearn run. I'd like to get an MTH but I don't know how well the colors would match. Thanks.

have matching paint schemes. It's a product of the environment they work in and how long it's been since they were painted. Nick Tharalson, Marion, IA Edited 1 time(s).
