Model Railroading > Is my math right?Date: 02/12/16 10:32 Is my math right? Author: pennsy3750 I have a certain caboose I want to scratchbuild. Model Railroader published scale drawings in 1993 or '94, which were in S scale. I'm working in HO.
Now, we know that S scale is 1:64 and HO is 1:87. Since 64/87 = 0.74, I would have to set the copy machine at work to 74% in order to re-size S-scale drawing down to HO, right? Date: 02/12/16 10:36 Re: Is my math right? Author: wabash2800 Yes, that is correct. But the ratio for HO is actually 87.1, but it doesn't make much of a difference in your calculation.

Author: kevink Take a scale rule with you to confirm that the copy you make is true scale. You might have to adjust up or down deoending on the copy machine.

Now, at 87.1 to the foot, how far oversize are my .020 diesel handrails, again? (-: EO Every day is a learning experience... Date: 02/19/16 18:41 Re: Is my math right? Author: wabash2800 There is about 13/16 of an inch of difference for an HO mile using 87 versus 87.1. <G>
