Model Railroading > Scale Trains preannounces an HO 4566 airslideDate: 05/02/16 06:19 Scale Trains preannounces an HO 4566 airslide Author: brfriedm Saw this on Scale Trains Facebook page. So this is different then the Tangent model. Not sure if the timing is all that good. Only time will tell.
Bruce ---------------- from Shane At the Railway Prototype Modelers (RPM) Meet in Bellflower, CA today, we’re previewing our next all–new HO scale Rivet Counter™ freight car. Officially licensed by GATX, the GATC 4566 Cubic Foot Airslide Covered Hopper is several inches taller than its 4180 cubic foot counterpart . This makes the 4566 visually distinctive. GATX provided original blueprint drawing copies to ensure prototypical accuracy. Built starting in the early 1980s, the 4566 was used for hauling bulk commodities such as chemicals, feed, fertilizer, flour, plastics, starch, sugar, etc. Today, the 4566 is often used in buffer service for crude oil and ethanol unit trains. Our 4566 includes standard Rivet Counter model features such as numerous separately applied detail parts; trucks with rotating bearing caps; see-through etched metal walkways; formed wire grab irons; coupler cut levers; trainline hoses; and much more. Watch for our official announcement in two weeks on our website, e-mail newsletter, and Facebook. The first production run will include buffer cars for our Rivet Counter Trinity 31K Crude Oil Tank Cars. Pricing will be similar to the Rivet Counter tank cars and models will be available late this summer. In addition, we’ll announce an officially licensed Rivet Counter 4180 Cubic Foot Airslide Covered Hopper with four different variations later this year. Shane Date: 05/02/16 07:48 Re: Scale Trains preannounces an HO 4566 airslide Author: SPDRGWfan Hopefully it is a different version that Tangents. I can use paint schemes good for the 1970's and 80's.
Cheers, Jim Fitch Date: 05/02/16 08:49 Re: Scale Trains preannounces an HO 4566 airslide Author: UPJeff It is not the same car as Tangent. Thye had some great looking paint schemes at the WPM meet. I can use some for my 70-80s layout. I really liked the Hostess one.

Tangent however only offers three variations. I don't know the exact phase breakdown for the 4180's, but it does sound like Scale Trains will be offering at least one phase that differs. Chris Christopher Slemp South Hadley, MA Milepost 15 Date: 05/02/16 09:47 Re: Scale Trains preannounces an HO 4566 airslide Author: binder001 Looks promising! I can't get the Tangent buffer car in my area, so my oil train may end up with ScaleTrains (or maybe one of each?)
Gary B. Waverly, NE Date: 05/02/16 15:24 Re: Scale Trains preannounces an HO 4566 airslide Author: EH49 Being ScaleTrains makes the tank cars only natural for them to also make some Buffer Cars. Now,we need a SD60e to pull them!
